Minutes of Parent Guild Meeting held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Don Diaz, President, at 7:00 p.m.
An Opening Prayer was offered by Mr. Sabatino.
Minutes from the August 2007 meeting were approved.
President’s Report:
Don reported that just about all the positions are filled in the Booster Club and Parents Guild. Christine Engesser and James Bean will be handling Basketball concessions. There will be a phone tree put together to enlist people to help with concessions. Spirit Wear will be sold on campus the last Thursday of each month. Cindy Turner is handling Spirit Wear and is considering new designs. Next month’s meeting will host Ruth Cooper, Ojai Valley Youth Foundation, on parent strategies for preventing substance abuse. It was suggested that we have parents email back a response if they are interested in attending so we know how many to expect in attendance. The Booster Club meetings will be rolled into the Parents Guild meetings so both will be meeting together from now on.

Headmaster’s Report:
Mr. Sabatino reported that Back to School night was well attended. Progress Report night is approaching. We are looking forward to Outdoor Movie Night. PSAT testing will be held on Saturdays this year. NOVA notes will be going out soon. Fall athletics are underway and the number of student participants is up. The concrete slab has been poured for the eating area and framing will start. We are on track to be completed by late October.
New Business:
Questions were asked about what we are doing to get more parents involved with volunteerism. It was suggested that we created smaller committees that people can commit to early on. We will publicize prior to the next meeting and attempt to attract more people to sign up for committees next month.
Next meeting is October 2nd. Dinner at 6:00pm, speaker at 7:00pm.
