NEW RESIDENT ORIENTATION
Schedule for Check-In Day on Thursday, August 3
10:00 am until 3:00 pm: Check-in at Villanova Main Office
Students may arrive anytime between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and family representatives are welcome to help their student move into the dormitory. Students will provide proof of childhood immunizations translated to English, make arrangements with the Business Office for Sundry Accounts and allowance, meet the School Nurse and receive room keys. Students may check-out with adults to purchase items for dorm rooms, explore nearby Ojai, have a private lunch or just relax in the shade of the beautiful Villanova campus.
5:30 pm until 6:30 pm: Welcome Dinner on Campus
Meet your new classmates, fellow parents, Villanova Faculty, Resident Staff and Administrators. Family and friends are invited and encouraged to stay for dinner before saying goodbye. All students and their families should return to campus by 5:30 pm. Families are asked to plan their visit in California so that students are present for the first day of camp, and each day thereafter. For the respect of students traveling alone, all parents should part with their students at the conclusion of dinner by 6:30 pm, and not return for the remainder of the camp experience. Parents are always welcome during the school year.
7:00 pm: Families Depart
7:30 pm until 9:00 pm: Student Meeting in the Recreation Room
Students will meet with Villanova staff to review expectations, camp schedule, and answer questions. An outline of the camp schedule will be given to students, but the schedule remains flexible for the student’s enjoyment and consideration.
After breakfast and room inspection, students begin the day with lessons to support English language development appropriate to grade level. Daily field trips to local points of interest include beaches, colleges, sporting events, museums and service projects. Students interested in playing a sport may begin summer practice with a team. Hiking, swimming, biking and games keep the students fit, while shopping, movies and music make it fun. Each day concludes with discussion groups and study hall.
