Villanova parents are extremely talented and parent participation is vital to the success of our events. We are grateful that we can rely on our parents for their continued support.
We have an expectation that every parent volunteers for at least one activity during the school year. When taking a look at the list of parent volunteering opportunities, please think about the skills that you can contribute. Thank you for your support!
2022-2023 Volunteer Opportunities
Parent Association Meetings: All parents are part of the Parent Association. As a member, please consider attending meetings to socialize with other parents, to hear from the Administration regarding school updates and to organize school activities. These meetings are led by the Chairs of the Parent Association. There are about 6 meetings throughout the year.
Homecoming (October): Parent Association families help with the half-time presentation at the Wildcat Homecoming Football game and with decorating for the Homecoming dance.
Senior Breakfasts (dates-TBD): Four breakfasts are held on school days throughout the year. Ojai/Oak View homes are needed to host (must accommodate approximately 50-60 students inside or outside). Additional parents help with preparation, serving and clean-up, senior parents only.
Christmas Posada (mid-December): The Parents Association prepares the luminaries for the presentation of the Posada and provides refreshments after the procession. All grade levels and family participation are welcome.
Catholic Schools Week-Teacher/Staff Appreciation (last week in January): Volunteering includes deciding how the parents would like to appreciate Villanova staff and employees. In the past parents have created wonderful customized gift bags, there has been a luncheon for teachers and staff, gift baskets have been raffled off each day to a fortunate employee…the creativity is up to the parents in charge.
Annual Auction (spring semester): This is the primary fundraiser and gala of the school year. Many parent volunteers from all grade levels are needed to make the event a success and there are many opportunities for volunteering from procuring auction items, decorating, set-up and clean-up… A chairperson for the auction and chairs for the procurement, decorating and set-up/clean-up committees are needed. Planning starts in January and multiple organizational meetings are held prior to the auction.
Junior Class Leadership/Blessing (date-TBD): A special evening mass for junior students and families, held at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ojai. A reception follows the mass and is traditionally hosted by the sophomore class parents. Freshman and senior parents are welcome to volunteer also!
Baccalaureate Mass/Reception (May): Baccalaureate mass at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ojai on the eve of graduation, followed by an hors d’oeuvres and dessert reception for the senior class and their guests, traditionally hosted by the junior class parents. Freshman and sophomore parents also needed.
Graduation Reception (May): An on campus cake and punch reception for the graduates and their guests following the Graduation Ceremony, traditionally hosted by the junior class parents. Freshman and sophomore parents also needed.
Athletics: The Athletic Director and the coaches can always use parents to help with the many tasks surrounding matches and games. If you are a parent who would like to help in this capacity, please let us know.
