Villanova Prep Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Villanova joined Catholic Schools all across the nation in celebrating Catholic Education from January 31st to February 5th. Each day had a theme where we celebrated a different aspect that make Catholic Schools great. See some of the highlights below!
Sunday: Celebrate Your Parish
On Sunday Fr. Barnaby celebrated Mass at Villanova’s enighboring parish St. Thomas Aquinas. There he spoke on the importance of Catholic Education and gave gifts to the parishioners from Villanova.
Monday: Celebrate Your Community
On Monday the Wildcats celebrated our community by honoring our first responders and emergency personnel. In their Theology classes, students made poster board cards for our firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, EMTs and basic needs providers. A group of students dropped these cards off on Monday.
Tuesday: Celebrate Your Students
On Tuesday (and Thursday for Cohort 2) we celebrated our students by bringing a coffee cart to campus so students could enjoy an afternoon treat.
Teachers also made an appreciation video to share with the students. Watch Below:
Wednesday: Celebrate the Nation
On Wednesday we celebrated our Nation. Villanova was honored to have been presented a Certificate of Recognition from the Ventura County Board of Supervisors for the positive contribution Villanova has made for the Ventura County community and the nation, signed by Matt LaVere, Supervisor of the 1st District and Villanova Alumnus Class of ‘97.
Thursday: Celebrate Vocations
On Thursday we celebrated vocations. We were joined by Fr. Mike Sezzi from Bishop Alemany High School who is the uncle of Villanova Junior Noah Sezzi. Fr. Sezzi offered Mass at the grotto for all vocations past and present. We are grateful for Fr. Sezzi’s vocation and for the vocations of Fr. Barnanby Johns, Fr. Gary Rye and Sr. Rachel Yourgules who all serve Villanova.
