December 17th

For Christians, Advent is an exciting season to anticipate the coming of Christ. The word “Advent” is derived from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming”. The Advent season begins December 1st and continues until December 24th. There are four Sundays this year and each Sunday will have a theme. The first Sunday is focused on hope, or in other words, promise. As a Chritian, the first Sunday I hold dear to my heart because hope in Christ is where I trust that the Lord will give me hope to continue in my faith and the promise I have made to him to be a follower of his word. The second theme is preparation because during Advent we prepare for the birth of Christ and continue to be loyal during the Advent season. The third theme is joy or peace, and we as Christians must celebrate God’s glory and all he has given us during the time of the Advent season. The last theme and the most important one is love. Without love there would not be an Advent season. Love, above all things brings Christians together to celebrate the birth of Jesus during the Advent season and make us realize how much Jesus genuinely loves us.
