    Associate Director of Admission

    The Associate Director of Admission is appointed by and responsible to the Head of School. The Associate Director of Admission is supervised by the Director of Admission and receives assignments related to all aspects of the admission and recruitment process. The Associate Director participates in a collaborative and professional environment dedicated to the recruitment and enrollment of students who are best served by Villanova’s mission and school community.

    The Associate Director serves as a member of the school's Admission Committee.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree;
    • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on public speaking;
    • Knowledge and proficiency in word and data processing programs (viz. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Google Apps);
    • Understanding of current marketing trends and strategies;
    • Admission experience in a Catholic high school or boarding school, preferably both;
    • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of students and parents.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Job responsibilities are assigned by the Director of Admission who may alter, add to, or eliminate job assignments anytime, with or without prior notice. The primary responsibility of the Associate Director is to act as an effective representative of Villanova in promoting its mission and supporting programs.

    In the absence of the Director of Admission, the Associate Director will assume all responsibilities for the direction of the Office of Admission as outlined in the Director’s job description.

    The institutional character of the boarding school environment requires evening and weekend responsibilities.

    General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Uphold and promote the Mission and Catholic identity of Villanova Preparatory School;
    • Represent the school accurately and compellingly to prospective students and parents, educational consultants, partner school heads and administrators, and other publics who may directly or indirectly play a role in recruitment/admission activities;
    • Develop and foster relationships with regional Catholic parish priests, partner school principals and teachers to further communicate future enrollment efforts;
    • Effectively administer the school's Student and Exchange Visitors’ Information System (SEVIS) as required by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services;
    • Assist the Director with institutional research needs including the collection and analysis of relevant data;
    • Communicate with prospective families in a polite, systematic, and efficient manner, including appropriate and timely follow-up;
    • Attend school fairs and visit partner schools as a representative of Villanova and enter required visit reports about these activities;
    • Become proficient in the use of the office technology used to manage office record keeping and correspondence;
    • Assist the Director with all publication and marketing initiatives;
    • Monitor and manage all external web-related programs designed to create maximum visibility for Villanova;
    • Work in concert with the Director and the Head of School on a variety of scheduled admission events including but not limited to: Open Houses, Admission receptions, and Shadow Days;
    • Travel in support of the marketing and recruitment goals of the schools, including internationally at times;
    • Maintain an accurate record of travel and admission related expenses;
    • Interview applicants and families and, in a timely manner, provide a detailed report of the interview for the Admission Committee;
    • Support the school and its leadership;
    • Continually seek new opportunities to improve upon existing admission practices;
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admission.

     


     
    Chemistry Teacher

    Villanova Preparatory School, a private, co-ed Catholic college preparatory school grades 9-12 located on 130 acres in beautiful Ojai, California, is seeking a dynamic educator to teach chemistry either part or full time beginning in the Fall of the 2017-2018 academic year. Villanova, operated under the ownership of the Augustinian Fathers with an enrollment of 260 students, is accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

    Villanova Preparatory attracts talented and highly motivated students and is seeking an experienced educator who brings passion and excitement to the classroom.

    Major Areas of Responsibility

    • Engage students in an active and effective learning environment;
    • Prepare laboratory experiments to facilitate learning;
    • Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school personnel;
    • Create and grade both formative and summative classroom assessments;
    • Keep current and complete grading and attendance records.

     

    Required Qualifications

    • Undergraduate chemistry or related degree;
    • Ability to work collaboratively to promote student learning.

     

    Desired Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree and/or teaching credential;
    • Experience working with high school students as a classroom teacher;
    • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program;
    • Experience with web-based learning, SmartBoards, and 1:1 (e.g. iPads) classroom settings;
    • Experience in a Catholic high school setting.
