HEAD COACH - Paul Velasquez pvelasquez@villanovaprep.org
Coach Paul Velasquez brings more than a decade of coaching experience in Water Polo & swimming at both the high school & club levels. A Ventura County native, he competed in both swimming & water polo throughout high school, continued playing club water polo, including at the Masters Level, and competed collegiately. Drawing from the many coaches & experiences that shaped his athletic career, Paul has developed a coaching philosophy centered on hard work, strong fundamentals, & a deep understanding of the game as the foundation for long-term success. After stepping away from coaching during the pandemic and spending time in the Monterey Bay area and Los Angeles, Paul remained closely connected to the sports he loves. Now back in Ojai, he is excited to bring his experience, passion, and commitment to student-athlete development at Villanova Preparatory School as Head of Aquatics (including the Middle School Program).
The 2026 Boys Water Polo practice schedule begins June 30, on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6 to 8 PM for the month of July. Once school resumes the practice schedule will necessarily change to meet student-athlete, family, & team needs for competitive CIF-SS play. Games begin in late August.
Those who want to join Boys Water Polo need to join the Summer Aquatics Group on the TeamReach app. Communications including practices, games, & updates are provided there. The TeamReach Code is VPSummerSwim26
